Saflirista blog:West Africa fashion guides
Most of west africans take their attire seriously. What west african people wear depend on where are they going:church, funeral, work, events or just relaxing at home.African people's attire are sometimes based on the religion they practice.
African peoples fashion for most adult women for churches, funeral and various events are more traditional. These beautiful dresses are not usually bought in the stores because most african women cannot afford them. Most african women will buy the fabrics in an open market and bring it to the african fashion designer who is a little bit cheaper. Few african women wear westernized style professional fashion to go to work.
Young african people are more trending towards westernized style. The progress in democratization of the continent has expanded the freedom of expression. There are more radios and televisions. Most young african people through satellites are tuned to many western entertainment shows. They are more influenced by Beyonce, Rihanna,Tyra Banks and more. These young people are likely to dress more fashionable like in western countries and local dresses are most used for special occasions.
African people are more reserved at the beach.West african people tend to be excited about activities at the beach or for the relaxation and not too many african people dare go in the water because there is no lifeguard for most of the times. They are very cautious.
African people for most part wear uniform to go to school till they graduate from high school.
As to poor african people, life is tough. You wear what you can find and there is no voucher from the government. You are on your own. Most poor african people wear used clothes that you can find in secondary markets. They are just happy to have clothes. Who would blame them?.

Saflrista blog: Moto taxis in Africa.
For lack of employment, most people turn to moto taxis in order to generate extra income. One thing has caught my attention is there are a lot of moto taxis and sometimes it can be annoying. I don't think I will dare driving over there. It is too risky because most roads are narrowed and there are no lanes. Moto taxis are relatively cheaper than taxi and will bring in front of your house contrary to taxis that you have to share with other people in order to save money. Because of the recession that is hitting hard them, the government seems to ignore their regulation or enforcement of safety laws. Most of them don't wear helmets.

saflirista blog : africa night life
Like any part of the world, africa is suffering also of the deep recession. Basic goods and services are getting very expensive. Despite of these difficult situations, people are finding a way to have fun. I can't believe how people enjoy themselves. Bars and night clubs are full even though price of beers and soda are very high if measured against the average earning. It was friday evening. We decided to have drinks. We got local beers and some appetizers. You can see around you people were happy despite been poor. They were dressed most part in european or american style and they were wearing shoes. The music was great and lot of people could not sit. Most commonly music played are soukous, coupe decale and many more. I wonder how often they go there.

Saflirista blog:What I have seen during my trip to africa
The first night in Africa was very hard for me coming from sixty degrees in US to hundred degrees. There is no air conditioner and it was very hard for me to sleep. The next day with my friend, we decided to tour the city at least to have a glance ourselves of the reality instead of American and European televisions let us believe.
Life in African cities is different to the European and American lifestyle. The same time, what been portrayed here in developing countries medias are sometimes misleading. I used believe them before my trip. I believe that it is rating driven. I did not see any tigers, lions, girafes, elephants or any other dangerous animals any where in the city nor anyone looking for them to kill. I have seen chicken and goats. The perception that most people in Africa have tigers, lions and any exotic animals at home are false. I have seen poor people but the same time who are happy to see me. They always have big smile and they great a lot. They do not often complain about what they have. Trust me, I am not denying that life is not extremely hard for them.

Saflrista blog: Landing in Africa.
I left Boston in the evening via American Airlines to Paris. The food was not that great but just be happy to get to Paris safely. After waiting for few hours, I boarded an air France to Africa. The food was great and the service exceptional. After five hours, we landed in Africa. It was exciting but different. The airport was very small and not a lot of planes. The weather was not that great but it was fine. I passed through customs...I have to show a yellow fever card ...hum..lol. Before I left to Africa, I went to see a doctor in order to get health advice. She covered everything including where I should sleep and what to wear because of potential disease from mosquitoes.I was terrified first but not too concerned after all. Anyway, I checkout my bags through customs and gave tips to airport workers for their helps as well as to less unfortunate including some disabled kids who were begging outside of the gates. It is sad and be happy of what you have. Life is hard. read more at saflirista
